Small waterfalls, forest walk, cool swim on the way to Nacpan Beach. A good stop on the north loop.

Clean, beautiful beach with shaded spots, less crowded than Marimegmeg.

Zipline with a view over El Nido bay, steep uphill walk then the ride down. Lunch break on site between 12pm and 1pm — avoid arriving then.

Founded by Alec and Bastien — the bar-restaurant that welcomed me when I first arrived in Palawan, the very first place I ever worked, as a bartender. Provençal cuisine with local produce, some of the best cocktails in El Nido (I had a hand in that, of course), and a gorgeous sunset over the pool. The food is excellent too.

El Nido's best chef. Jeremy shares his love of cooking with the Filipino team and passes on real know-how, always a treat. Tasting menu, 5 or 8 courses, wine pairing available. Booking required.

The restaurant of my friend Oli, who learned Italian cooking in the home of pizza itself. By far the best pizza in El Nido — I've eaten hundreds of them — right on the water facing the sunset. A big heart too: I slept on the benches of his restaurant back when I had nowhere to stay.

Run by Arnaud, one of the most respected expats in El Nido — over 25 years on the island, fluent in Tagalog, he knows it like the back of his hand. Very well-executed Filipino cuisine, and beautiful sunsets too.

Opened in 2016 by my friends Basile and Bertille — one of the first bars with real vibes in central El Nido. Chill spirit, a DJ almost every night, excellent cocktails, super comfortable to settle in. Perfect for a drink after dinner, or as a warm-up before heading out to party all night.

My friend Max's hotel, a great recommendation: excellent service, a pool, spotless rooms, a short walk from very good restaurants and the sunset.

Laura's shop — a longtime Spanish friend in El Nido. Clothing and souvenirs, island-life vibe.

The shop of my great friends Gaet and Jen, who put me up when I had nothing — big hearts. You'll find local jams, local rum to bring home, and a nice selection of clothing.

My favourite tour in El Nido — a top professional crew. Thanks to Tanya and Alec for this format that avoids the crowds in El Nido bay. The team adapts to what you want, the food is great, the boat is comfortable. Book ahead, it's often full — but if you want an off-the-beaten-path tour, this is it. Later departure at 11am, finishing after all the other boat tours, so you get to enjoy one of El Nido's best spots almost entirely alone. Price: ₱22,000 for 2 to 4 people, then ₱4,000 per extra person (10 people maximum).
